The Flashforge Creator 5 Pro was straightforward to set up in my first few days with it. Its standout idea is a four-tool-head system intended to change colors without the purge waste that comes with a single-nozzle multicolor workflow. This guide follows my actual unboxing, assembly, calibration, filament loading, and first prints so you know what to check before starting your own machine.
This is an initial setup and first-print report, not a long-term verdict. I had only a few days and several test prints with the printer when filming. The later review is the better place for longer-term conclusions.

The order that worked in my setup

What comes in the box
The box contained the printer, a top cover, power cable, screen, screws and tools, side spool holders, the extruders, test filament, and the pieces for the top enclosure. The enclosure is not ready as one piece: it includes the clear panels and corner components that need to be assembled before the top is set on the printer.
The quick-start guide sits on top. After setting it aside, remove the upper foam and lower the box to the floor before lifting the printer out. The plastic wrapping is strong enough to use as a grip, but the machine fits tightly in the carton. Stabilize the box with your feet or have someone help hold it while you lift.
Assembly steps that matter
Install and orient the screen
The screen pops into its mount and is held with the M3 by 6 screws. Orient it with the Flashforge logo upright; the small board on the screen aligns with the smaller opening in the mount. After it is secured, adjust the screen angle for whether you will normally be standing or sitting at the machine.

Fit the nozzle blockers, tool dock, and extruders
Slide the four nozzle blockers into the positions below the extruder locations, with the angled section facing down. Next, slide the extruder dock into place until it clicks, then secure it with the M3 by 16 screws. Each extruder should align into place without twisting. Keep the exposed side facing the main head so it can pick up the tool correctly.
Connect the extruder cable to the mount with its USB-C connection, then use the two ST2.9 by 9.5 screws to retain it. The practical point is to avoid twisting the cable or tool head during installation. If anything needs force to seat, stop and check the alignment instead of tightening hardware against a misaligned part.

Remove the bed transport screws before power-up
There are three screws holding the print bed for shipping, and arrows identify them. Remove all three before you initiate calibration. This is the most important setup check because the automatic routine moves the machine; leaving the bed secured risks damaging the motors.
Assemble the top enclosure
Build the top with the corner brackets and clear panels, then attach the lid. The side with the clips is the top side. Secure the four corners with the ST2.9 by 9.5 screws, then place the completed enclosure on the printer. It locks into position in one orientation, so line up the grooves rather than forcing it.

Wi-Fi, calibration, and firmware
After assembly, select your language, join your Wi-Fi network, and sign in through the Flashforge phone app by scanning the on-screen QR code from inside the app. The calibration routine in my setup took about 20 to 30 minutes. I then accepted the available firmware update, which took about a minute before the printer restarted.

Give calibration uninterrupted time. It is tempting to start loading filament or adjusting hardware while the machine is moving, but completing calibration first gives you a known baseline for the first prints.
How I loaded four filament positions
On the printer, open the filament section and start with position 1. The positions run in order from 1 through 4. I used a mix of filament brands for the first setup. Feed each spool from the bottom and up into the path so the filament aligns naturally with the tube instead of taking an awkward route upward from the side.
Once the machine detects the filament, select it and choose Load. For the second feed step, I removed the top cover and pressed the lever at the extruder so the filament could continue through. You should feel it travel farther; then choose Next. Some previously loaded color may purge first, so wait until the expected filament color is coming through before treating the load as complete.

The first prints I used to validate the machine
I started with the multicolor Benchy stored on the printer. The purpose was not to evaluate every material or tune a profile; it was to confirm the core functions, including all four colors. I enabled the time-lapse simply to see how that feature looked. After that, I printed a small cube to check the first layer and basic print behavior.
The next test was a fidget sphere with many small internal moving parts. It completed without issues. For the larger multicolor test, I printed a dragon. That is a useful multicolor stress test because it can trigger color changes at every layer and sometimes multiple times within a layer. The dragon printed well in this initial testing, and I did not see purge waste comparable to the single-nozzle multicolor systems I had used before.

Initial strengths and limitations
The multi-tool-head system was the main strength in my early use. It worked essentially flawlessly in these first prints and reduced the filament lost to purging compared with other multicolor approaches. Four tool heads made a meaningful difference on the dragon, where frequent color changes would normally produce more waste.
The initial setup was also manageable: after unpacking and assembly, I estimated it took about a half hour to get the printer running, excluding the unattended calibration and update time. I did not encounter issues in the small set of initial prints.
There were two caveats worth knowing. First, the filament is exposed rather than stored in a dry box. A separate filament dryer or heater can sit beside it, but sensitive materials are not protected by the stock side-spool arrangement. Second, the slicer and online-model experience felt less polished than competing options at the time of filming. Some online models could print directly, but many required downloading, importing into the slicer, making changes, and then starting the print.
